Sakura won 2nd prize at the All-Japan Dance Competition and was also a semi-finalist in the 1992 Prix de Lausanne. Graduated from Hamburg Ballet School in 1994 and later joined Hamburg Ballet. Sakura has performed in Neumeier's Messiah, Nijinsky and Odyssey, Mats Ek's Sleeping Beauty and Christopher Wheeldon's VII I. She has also performed in Tokyo 's Aoyama Ballet Festival from 1994 to 1996, 1999 and 2000 and the Iwamizawa Arts Festival in 2001. She joined the company in July 2002 and has danced in many of the SDT's repertoire including lead and fouette girl in Graduation Ball, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, the Pas de Trois in Dark Lullaby and in Jiri Kylian's Forgotten Land, Stamping Ground and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. Danced the lead role in Ohad Naharin's Tabula Rasa, Lilac Fairy in Jean-Paul Comelin's The Sleeping Beauty and 1st Pas de Deux in Stanton Welch's Maninyas. She also danced as Snow Queen in Jeffrey Tan's The Nutcracker, Effy in La Sylphide, and was involved in the world premiere of QUEST. In 2006, Sakura choreographed her first work, Reflections at Dusk, which had its debut at the ever-popular Ballet Under the Stars. Sakura's recent performances were Legacy of Goh Choo San, Swan Lake and Giselle In The Park.
