ETIENNE FERRÈRE
Principal Artist

At a young age, Etienne started dancing in Oyonnax, France. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2003. During his time at the school, he performed in classical pieces such as La Somnambule by George Balanchine, a principal role in Scaramouche by José Martinez and Concerto en Ré by Claude Bessy as well as in contemporary works like Yondering by John Neumeier and Symphony in Three Movements by Nils Christe. He also toured with Paris Opera Ballet School all over Europe, Japan and the USA. Upon graduation, Etienne joined the Paris Opera Ballet Company in 2009 and performed in the classical ballets Cinderella and Raymonda.

Etienne joined SDT in November 2010 was promoted to First Artist in January 2014. His repertoire highlights include Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet (2014) Maninyas by Stanton Welch, Gold (Pas de Trois) in Sleeping Beauty (2010, 2012, 2015), Shepherd in The Nutcracker (2011, 2013), Peter in Peter and Blue Go Around the World (2012) and Peter and Blue’s Birthday Party (2013), the Pas de Trois in Paquita (2012). He has also performed in Coppélia and Giselle, Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet (2014), Gamache in Don Quixote (2014), as well as the Pas de Trois and Tarantella Couple in Swan Lake (2015) as well as Cavalier and Shepherd in The Nutcracker (2016).

Etienne has also danced Bournonville Divertissements, Flower Festival pas de deux, Tarantella, Traces We Left Behind, Double Contrasts, Piano Concerto No. 2 Opus 102, Age of Innocence, Opus 25, The Winds of Zephyrus, Midnight Waltzes, Divertimento No. 15, Theme and Variations, Rubies, Serenade, Allegro Brillante, Slide, Sticks and Stones, Shadow’s Edge,Incomparable Beauty, 4Seasons, Jabula, Fearful Symmetries, Organ Concerto, ZIN!, Another Energy, Absence of Story, Blue Snow, Chant, Lambarena, Swipe, The FourTemperaments, 13th Heaven, Triptych, Linea Adora, SYNC, Fives and Evening Voices.

Etienne was promoted to Principal Artist in January 2018.
