JASON CARTER
First Artist

Born in Central Queensland, Australia, Jason started dancing when he was 5, coached by Sandra Pincham in the RAD syllabus. Jason was accepted into the New Zealand School of Dance for the classical course in 2008 and started his training at the school in 2009.

He appeared in a range of performances by the school including Company B by Paul Taylor, Napoli, Evening Songs and Continuo. He graduated at the end of 2011, and joined SDT as an apprentice in January 2012 and was promoted to the rank of Artist in September 2012.

Jason has performed in Coppélia, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, and danced as the Mouse King and Spanish in The Nutcracker (2013, 2016) and Shepherd in The Nutcracker (2016), Gamache in Don Quixote (2014), Puss in Boots in Sleeping Beauty (2015), and the Hunting Party and Spanish Couple in Swan Lake (2015). He has also performed in Bournonville Divertissements, A Folk Tale Pas de Sept, Tarantella, Schubert Symphony, Piano Concerto No.2 Opus 102, Age of Innocence, Opus 25, The Winds of Zephyrus, Midnight Waltzes, Serenade, Allegro Brillante, Rubies, Theme and Variations, Peter & Blue, Paquita, Sticks and Stones, Shadow’s Edge, Incomparable Beauty, 4Seasons, Fearful Symmetries, Organ Concerto, ZIN!, Another Energy, Blue Snow, Lambarena and Swipe.

Jason was promoted to First Artist in January 2017.
