NANASE TANAKA
Demi-Soloist

Nanase began her ballet training with Mary Ann La Joie-Sandroff in Illinois, USA followed by Kishibe Ballet Studio in Japan. She furthered her training at Elmhurst School for Dance in the UK and graduated in 2009 with a National Diploma in professional dance from the Trinity College. During her time in England, she danced in MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations (Calliope Rag), Don Quixote (Act 3 pas de deux) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (4 Butterflies).

She has danced in Birmingham Royal Ballet, performing in David Bintley’s Beauty and the Beast, MacMillian’s Concerto and Firebird, and toured around UK with the company.

After performing in Swan Lake (2009), Nanase joined SDT as an apprentice in January 2010 and was promoted to Artist in September the same year. Her repertoire highlights include Princess Florine, Diamond (pas de trois) and Fairy of Energy in Sleeping Beauty (2010,  2012, 2015), the pas de trois, Cygnets and the Spanish in Swan Lake (2012, 2015, 2019), Spanish in The Nutcracker (2011, 2013, 2016), Dewdrop in The Nutcracker (2013, 2016), Moyna in Giselle, and a soloist role in Paquita.

Nanase was promoted to Demi-Soloist in January 2020. She most recently performed the debut role of Juliet’s friends in Romeo and Juliet (2020).
