NANASE TANAKA
Artist

Nanase began her ballet training with Mary Ann La Joie-Sandroff in Illinois, USA followed by Kishibe Ballet Studio in Japan. She furthered her training at Elmhurst School for Dance in the UK and graduated in 2009 with a National Diploma in professional dance from the Trinity College. During her time in England, she danced in MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations as the Calliope Rag, Don Quixote (Act 3 Pas de Deux) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

She has danced in Birmingham Royal Ballet’s 2008/2009 autumn season performing in David Bintley’s Beauty and the Beast, MacMillian’s Concerto and Firebird, and toured around UK with the company.

After performing in Swan Lake (2009), Nanase joined SDT as an apprentice in January 2010 and was promoted the same year. Her repertoire highlights include Princess Florine, Diamond (Pas de Trois) and Fairy of Energy in Sleeping Beauty (2010,  2012, 2015), the Pas de Trois, Cygnets and the Spanish in Swan Lake (2012, 2015), Spanish in The Nutcracker (2011, 2013, 2016), Dewdrop in The Nutcracker (2013, 2016), and a soloist role in Paquita.

Nanase has danced in Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Coppélia, Don Quixote, Bournonville Divertissements, Double Contrasts, Fives, Schubert Symphony, Waiting…, As Above,So Below, The Winds of Zephyrus, Age of Innocence, Opus 25, Divertimento No. 15, Theme and Variations, Allegro Brillante, Serenade, Rubies, Concerto Barocco, Midnight Waltzes, Peter & Blue series, Shadow’s Edge, Fearful Symmetries, ZIN!, Organ Concerto, Blue Snow, Chant, Nameless, Jabula and Another Energy.
