VALERIE YEO
Artist

Valerie was born in Singapore and first started ballet under her mother, Jenny Chien. From mid-2011, she studied at the School of the Arts Singapore, where she was also taught by Cheah Mei Sing, Xia Hai Ying, Alice Lau, Silvia Yong and Celine Tan.

In 2013 she received the National Arts Council Undergraduate Scholarship, and went to train at the Central School of Ballet in London from 2014-2016. While there she was tutored by Linda Moran, Resmi Malko, Carole Gable and Elia Luyando. During the graduation performance tour, she performed in Celebrations by Christopher Gable, War Letters by Christopher Marney, Superstruct by Sara Matthews and also worked with other choreographers such as  Richard Bermange and Mikaela Polley. She also was involved in Crystal Pite’s Polaris project which was performed at Sadlers Wells, 2014. She graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Dance and Performance in July 2016.

Valerie joined Singapore Dance Theatre as an trainee in January 2017, became an Apprentice in January 2018, and was promoted to Artist in January 2019.
