 In celebration of Singapore Dance Theatre’s 20th year anniversary, we are pleased to invite you and your students to attend this season’s Dance Appreciation Series on the classical ballet of Giselle.
Giselle, being one of the greatest romantic classical ballets, is an amalgamated tale of devotion, betrayal, and deception that epitomizes this tragic love story. It tells the love story between a village maiden, Giselle, and a nobleman, Albrecht. Mesmerized by her beauty and innocence, Albrecht disguises himself as a peasant and promises eternal love to Giselle despite being betrothed to a Duke’s daughter, Bathilde. Soon after, she discovers his deceit, and in her grief, she tries to kill herself with Albrecht sword.
Will Giselle forgive Albrecht for his betrayal or will she seek revenge? Join us as we follow this heart-wrenching love story that is bound to capture the hearts of many.

For just $11(inclusive of SISTIC fee), students will get to enjoy an afternoon of dance at the Esplanade Concert Hall. At this hour-long session, students will get to know more about the story on Giselle through our Assistant Artistic Director, Janek Schergen as well as watch excerpts of the beautiful dance pieces.
The easy to understand and accessible performances aim to enhance the understanding of dance among new audiences and those keen to know more about the dance scene. Like teachers, we want to educate, nurture and above all, inspire the youths of Singapore.
