Cinderella returns to stage in this lavish tale of true love that transcends social class and meddlesome sisters which will also mark the first installment of the popular dance appreciation series in 2009. In this version, the path to true love between Cinderella and the Prince is fraught with modern-day trappings and strung together by brilliant and witty choreography that is set to Sergei Prokofiev’s unforgettable score.
The night draws closer as Cinderella’s stepsisters prepares to attend the royal ball at the kingdom, leaving Cinderella behind to do the housework. After her stepsisters left for the party, Cinderella sits alone, hoping she could attend the party. Unexpectedly, a fairy godmother appeared and transforms Cinderella with a touch on her magical wand. She leaves for the party and promises to be back before midnight.
At the ball, The Prince invited Cinderella for a dance and they fall in love. As midnight is about to strike, Cinderella flees, leaving only one of her glass slippers behind. The next day, the disheartened prince began on a search in the town for Cinderella, whom he wants to marry.
With its timeless classical tale and sophisticated moves, Cinderella is presented by Singapore Dance Theatre through an excerpt from 3 Acts which depicts the story from rags to riches accompanied with visual explanations for primary and secondary students.
