Come this Children’s Day; be captivated by the colours in a ballet performance, featuring Swan Lake. Find out how it can be infused into a performance through the use of stage lightings, costumes, sets and props and extravagant embellishments to evoke an emotional response and mood.
In this session, young audiences will be introduced to the multi-coloured costumes and headpieces worn by ballerinas, bringing together a vibrant display of performance. Also, learn how the colours are used to convey a story ballet – with Odette dressed in a white tutu, representing purity while Odile, the evil swan is dressed in a black tutu, representing power.
This session of Dance Appreciation Series is suitable for children aged 3 to 12, dance enthusiasts and students. Within the format of each session, excerpts from Swan Lake will be performed and educational elements such as visual explanations of common terms in dance and ballet are presented.
For your trip to the concert hall, wear a tutu or dress up as a beautiful princess or young prince! You will also get a chance to meet your favourite Swan Lake cast and take a picture with them after the performance!
