Singapore Dance Theatre is pleased to offer volunteering opportunities for students who would like to contribute to Singapore Dance Theatre's efforts to promote the understanding and appreciation of dance as an art form.

“The Chinese Dance Group and the pupils of our school find the performances very enriching. The performances allow our pupils to widen our horizons and help cultivate our appreciation for the fine arts. We will definitely continue to lend our support to the SDT.” - Evelyn Quek

Volunteer opportunities include presentations, sales of merchandise, translation, audience surveys and ticket donations, to name but a few. As a volunteer, students will also get a chance to learn first hand news about SDT and its dancers as well as an inside scoop about what is going on both on stage and behind the scenes. Students will also have the opportunity to learn a great deal about dance and then in turn share that knowledge with others. The biggest plus is the feeling of satisfaction that comes from knowing you are providing a service that will help make a difference to our society.

Volunteering Opportunities:

1) Packing of goodie bags:

Date: 16 to 27 June 2008 (Monday to Friday)
Venue: SDT office (Fort Canning Centre)
Time: 11am to 7pm (Students who are not able to make it at these timings are allowed to commenced at a later time. )

Number of students required: Max 10 a day

2) Performance Season: Ballet Under The Stars

Date: 25 to 27 July (Friday to Saturday)
Time: 3pm to 10pm
Venue: Fort Canning Park

Number of students required: Max 20 a day

Main Duties:

  • Fringe activities such as Balloon Making, Face painting and tattoo printing for children
  • Provide assistance at the Front-of-house and Merchandise booth
  • Ushering
