Bonjour!

Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) is touring to France, performing a contemporary triple bill, Continuum, featuring works by three great choreographers - Edmund Stripe, David Dawson and Jorma Elo.

Piano Concerto No. 2, Opus 102, choreographed by Edmund Stripe, is a fast-paced and exciting work set to music by Dimitri Shoskatovitch, which encompasses many emotions from playfulness through melancholia to sweeping grandeur. This piece is dedicated to the memory of Singaporean choreographer, Goh Choo San, and to his enduring legacy.

Created by David Dawson for Het Nationale Ballet (Dutch National Ballet), A Million Kisses to my Skin is a post-classical dance work that visualises the baroque style patterns of Bach's Piano Concerto No 1. Its extravagant and free-flowing movements constantly emerge and dissolve across the stage, displaying a virtuosic vocabulary that is elegant and refined.

“Continuum proved to be a pleasure to watch… a triple bill well received by the audience.” - Business Times, 16 June 2008

One of Jorma Elo’s bigger ballets and created for American Ballet Theatre in 2006, Glow-Stop contrasts the works of Mozart and Philip Glass. From two different time periods, Mozart's music (Symphony No. 28 in C, 4th Movement.) lets the choreography ‘glow’ with its bubbly lightness, while the driving pulsating beat of Glass’ piece (Tirol Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, 2nd Movement) carries the dance to its end, becoming the ‘stop' component to Elo’s ballet.

We’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to an exclusive pre-tour showcase of Continuum to catch these wonderful works presented by the SDT dancers.
