Swan Lake

Swan Lake is the gold standard of ballet. It is the most easily identifiable classical ballet of
all time and has been danced around the world since the first successful performance was
given in Imperial Russia in 1895 by at the Maryinsky Theatre. The music for the ballet was
commissioned by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the choreography by Petipa/Ivanov defines
what is now considered to be definitive of ballet to this day.

Ballet Under The Stars

Roaring into Fort Canning Park this July is the 12th edition of the ever-popular Ballet Under The Stars (BUTS). Impressions - 18 - 19 May 2007
Singapore - 23 Feburary 2007 - The Impressions Triple Bill features a new piece called Negro Y Blanco by Singapore Dance Theatre’s Resident Choreographer Jeffrey Tan, a Singapore Premiere of Argentinean choreographer Mauricio Wainrot’s passionate Seasons of Buenos Aires, and a re-staging of Jiri Kylian’s seminal piece, Stamping Ground. Each piece is a snapshot of a place in time, a thought in evolution, and a movement in transition. Each piece is an impression, waiting to be explored and enjoyed by the audience.
