Introduction to Ballet for MINDS

Dates: Every Tuesday, 7 August to 2 October (except 25 September)
Time: 2pm – 3pm
Venue: Singapore Dance Theatre’s Studio
Ballet Shoe Sponsor: Sonata Dancewear

At Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT), we believe in making the arts accessible to everyone, including the low-income, underprivileged, and disabled in our society. Our hope is to share our greatest joy for dance with those who may not have the privilege of attending a dance class or performance by their own means.

For the first time ever, SDT will be collaborating with MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore) to kick start an initiative where students from MINDS will be given an opportunity to learn basic ballet positions to a full dance routine from professional dancers of SDT. With a specialised curriculum set up for them, these students will immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience unlike any other, and will gain an enriching exposure to the world of dance.

Their hard work in the studio will translate into a performance item that they can bring to stage at Purple Parade, on 27 October 2018 at Suntec City, as well as to their graduation ceremony at the end of the year.
