Be inspired by innovative choreography this November at Passages Contemporary Season, Singapore Dance Theatre's annual Contemporary Season.
A 3 - day only showcase, Singapore Dance Theatre will present a medley of contemporary dance works. Featuring two stunning new creations by local choreographer Christina Chan and Swiss-canadian choreographer Kinsun Chan who has established his reputation as an outstanding choreographer in the US and Europe.
Additionally, three up and coming local choreographers - Max Chen, Ci Ci Chen and Frontier Danceland's Jereh Leong, will leverage on the much awaited opportunity to have their talent and fresh ideas fulfilled onstage, the outcome of a choreographic workshop held in October, under the tutelage of SDT Artistic Director, Janek Schergen.
New Works By
Christina Chan created a spectacular work for SDT in 2012, entitled "Waiting...", a result of the Passages workshop in 2011. She is currently a full-time company artist with Frontier Danceland and the winner of Sprouts choreographic competition in 2011, and the winner of the Best Dancer in 2012. She graduated from The Boston Convservatory and was awarded the prestigious Arthur B. Whitney Medal.
Kinsun Chan began his professional ballet career in America and was a finalist at the Varna International Ballet Competition. He later went to Europe and danced with the Zurich Ballet and Basel Ballet. His first choreography was created for the Zurich Ballet and he continued to choreograph works with other renowned ballet companies across Europe and Asia.

Max Chen was a company dancer with Frontier Danceland from 2009 - 2011. His choreographic works have been showcased by NAFA, Frontier Danceland and Maya Dance Theatre. He currently works as a freelance dance artist and part-time lecturer with NAFA Department of Dance.
Cici Chen was an alumni of NUS Dance Ensemble and has performed in DE's annual dance productions since 2002. She choreographed her first dance in 2006 for Evocation, and has since presented many works at this annual dance showcase for budding choreographers. She also choreographed for The Next Wave in 2010 and Sprouts in 2011.
Jereh Leong is currently part of the company artists with Frontier Danceland. He was an active member of SEAD's dance company, Bodhi project, and has performed with them in Vienna, London and Slovenia.
