The Scholars Programme is a pre-professional training programme created especially for student dancers between the ages 13 – 19 who are seriously considering the pursuit of a professional dance career. This elite programme will enable young Singaporean dancers to further realise their passion for dance and to guide them in pursuing their professional dance goals. At the same time, the programme aims to develop and groom the next generation of professional Singaporean dancers.

Guided and taught by Artistic Director Janek Schergen together with selected faculty members, the programme will provide students with a comprehensive training in ballet technique including pointe work, variations, contemporary dance and seminars, building them up to become well-rounded and versatile dancers.

Note: Scholars Programme is on term break. Classes will resume next Monday, 18 March.

Auditions can be held throughout the year, as part of the Scholars Class. Click here to register!

“The Scholars Programme by SDT has been integral and vital in my journey to be a professional dancer. It opened my eyes and introduced me to the realm of professional ballet training. If a student can cope, and continue to remain motivated, with the rigour of studying in the day and training with SDT in the evenings, then the Scholars Programme will be an excellent facility for one’s development.” — Timothy Ng, Artist at Singapore Ballet

“I auditioned for the Scholars Program in 2011 with the aspirations to be a professional dancer. The daily evening classes allowed me to still pursue my academics full-time while training pre-professionally with the faculty at SDT. Since then, I was able to have the opportunity to perform alongside with the professional dancers at SDT and understand what was necessary to be a professional dancer. With my training from the Scholars Program, I will be pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Professional Dance and Performance at Central School of Ballet in September 2017.” – Lee Wai Hong, former Scholar at Singapore Ballet
