ambassador's circle

Established in 2009, the Ambassador's Circle is a group specially designed for ballet and dance enthusiasts who are among the most dedicated friends of the company.

The Ambassador's Circle aims to enhance the theatre going experience for its members by enabling them to watch dance with a more personal involvement and knowledge of the repertoire.

Members both have a passion for dance and a desire to contribute to Singapore Dance Theatre through the supporting the acquisition of new works, boosting the company's repertoire and enriching the ballet and cultural experience for the local audience. At the same time, these acquisitions will further SDT's role as Singapore's main ambassador for dance within the global arts scene.

As a member of the Ambassador's Circle, you contribute because you want to see the company grow to greater heights in both the local and international dance scene. At the same time, you share our desire to carve a higher reputation for Singapore Dance Theatre while nurturing dancers through exquisite repertoire. As part of this group, your generosity will help to bring to stage a new work by an internationally renowned choreographer.

In 2009 and 2010, the Ambassador’s Circle successfully brought in two works by George Balanchine – Concerto Barocco (2009) and Serenade (2010). In 2011, Fearful Symmetries by highly acclaimed Dutch choreographer Nils Christe was successfully brought into the repertoire. In 2012, Age of Innocence by award winning choreographer Edwaard Liang was successfully brought in by the Ambassador’s Circle.

In 2013, we are proud to present Theme and Variations, one of the greatest masterpieces of ballet by George Balanchine ©. The acquisition of Theme and Variations is a milestone achievement for the company. This piece will be performed in August during Masterpiece in Motion, our annual international repertory season at the Esplanade Theatre and we look forward to the much-needed support of the Ambassador's Circle for this performance.
