Lei Ting was a student at the Xun Yan Ballet School in Liaoning, China before she furthered her dance training at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. During her studies in Singapore, she participated in SDT’s productions of The Nutcracker in 2008 and Swan Lake in 2009, and later joined the company in 2010 as an apprentice where she performed in Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Jeffrey Tan's Sometimes I think I Remember and a new work by fledging choreographer Kelvin Koh. She also toured with SDT to Malaysia that year.
Lei Ting was promoted the following year in 2011 and she danced in all the seasons for the year including Romeo and Juliet and The Nutcracker. She also danced as one of the Czardas Couples in Swan Lake (2012) and also performed in Sleeping Beauty (2012). Lei Ting has performed George Balanchine's Serenade and Divertimento No. 15 and Edwaard Liang's The Winds of Zephyrus.
