A graduate from the Beijing Dance Academy and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Jun participated in the HKAPA’s 4 Colours Dance Season, Tormented Tangos choreographed by Paul Boyd, Swan Lake (Act 1, Waltz) choreographed by Yuri Ng, A Touch of Class choreographed by Rashna Homji and Ko Chun Kwai, Le Villi choreographed by Graeme Collins and directed by Bastien Tai. Zhao Jun has also danced with the Stuttgart Ballet in Romeo & Juliet by John Cranko. Other productions include Raymonda, The Nutcracker, La Bayadère, Paquita and Carmen at the Beijing Dance Academy.


Zhao Jun joined SDT in August 2005. His repertoire highlights include Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty (2010 and 2012), Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet (2011), The Spanish in The Nutcracker (2011) and the Pas de Trois in Swan Lake (2012). Zhao Jun has also taken on many soloist roles in various pieces including Maninyas by Stanton Welch, Age of Innocence by Edwaard Liang, Organ Concerto by Nils Christe and Nameless by Xing Liang. He has also danced in Coppélia, Allegro Brillante by George Balanchine, Edwaard Liang’s The Winds of Zephyrus and As Above, So Below, Jabula by Natalie Weir, ZIN! by Nils Christe, and Glow-Stop by Jorma Elo.

 

Zhao Jun was promoted to First Artist in January 2013.
